Eventide believes strongly in success and in continuing a tradition of enjoyment. We take a unique and effective approach to drawing like-minded players to our guild community. If you're considering Eventide, please read on!
History of Eventide
Eventide has a distinguished and varied history. The guild originally began on Cenarius in early 2005, originally recruiting from Elwynn Forest (yes, really) and focusing on short storyline movies. In late August, Eventide began focusing it's talent on 40-man raiding. By late 2006, Eventide distiniguished itself as one of the top tier guilds by successfully clearing the entirety of pre-Burning Crusade, up to and including Kel'thuzad of 40-man Naxxramas.

When Burning Crusade released, the majority of the membership decided against continuing with hardcore raiding in World of Warcraft. This was due in large part to the time commitment and the sacrifices we had made in Naxxramas, including the loss of a large number of original members and friends who could not keep up with the demands of that raid setting. Those who remained formed Fuse, a guild which went on to claim server first on Kil'jaeden; others moved to different games, establishing the guild in Vanguard: Saga of Heroes, Tabula Rasa, and Age of Conan.
In August, 2007, the Eventide website and forums were converted into TankSpot.com due to the large community following that had learned from our movies and written guides. TankSpot.com is now a massive community resource that has been featured several times on WorldOfWarcraft.com and has been explicitly acknowledged by Ghostcrawler, the Lead Systems Designer for Blizzard. More recently, Eventide Wrath of the Lich King raid movies published under Project Marmot netted over 300,000 combined views in less than two weeks of release.
Our Current Plans
From the community of TankSpot and the Age of Conan membership, Eventide Guild is once again launching itself as a serious raiding guild. We've chosen to set up on the
Earthen Ring server. However, this time we're approaching it very differently, to make sure we don't lose sight of what is important to us:
- We will not recruit players who we don't enjoy spending time with.
- We will not attempt to complete serious 25-man achievements unless we are moderately geared for it and we are not sacrificing raid progress in the same instance.
- To keep our schedule lighter than it has been in the past, we will regularly drop previous raid zones while we focus on new content. For instance, when Ulduar releases we will focus all raid nights solely on it until it has been cleared. We will also prioritize boss encounters we have not killed before other farm content.
- Those of us who wish to remain hardcore will create a voluntary weekly pool of players for a 10-man crew dedicated to completing difficult achievements. Understand going in that we will have no hesitation doing this at the expense of other in-guild 10-man groups, and we will roster more than 10 players for this so we can cycle in players for balance reasons.
- Finally, please note that we have zero interest in server standing. Eventide is a recognized worldwide community resource. We have zero tolerance for server-related drama and we will make zero effort to compete with other guilds on our server. Our progress is measured by our schedule and our goals alone.
Leave A Light Footprint
Eventide takes a unique approach to fostering a drama-free community. When you are a part of Eventide, you are expected to
never, under any circumstance, use any public forum -- including server forums -- to respond to, post, or instigate any level of drama. This is not limited to messages related to our guild, but also to any drama post for any guild. This also means we do not create self-congratulatory posts for our accomplishments in any public community.
You are also expected to
never, under any circumstance, engage in in-game arguments with players outside the guild via chat or private tells.
The goal with these rules is not to restrict our members, but to attract members who are not prone to interpersonal drama in the first place. By staying completely out of server-related drama, we leave a light footprint that allows us the flexibility to pursue our own goals, be they Raiding, PVP, gathering, or crafting.
Member For Life
Eventide believes the community and friendships we hold are the most important facet of the guild structure. Once you've been accepted into Eventide you will never lose your membership so long as you abide by the rules of that membership.
There are two types of guild rules in our guild -- those that exist for guild progress and those that exist for guild community. Guild progression rules, such as attendance or performance, are applied primarily to the Raider core of the guild; if Raiders fail to meet these minimums, they are simply moved to Member status, and may re-apply in the future as their schedule permits.
The second type of rule covers the guild community and it is the only type that, when broken, will cause guild removal. These are disrespect, talking back, or sarcasm towards the guild leadership, disrespect towards other members, violation of our Do Not Kill list, or a violation of our no-drama policy as outlined above.
Equality
Eventide never rewards seniority and, wherever possible, does not distinguish between guild ranks. We believe that people who earn the privilege of being part of our community are equal members.
For Raiders, Eventide DKP is a single bid, silent bid system that does not reward seniority or rank. There are zero item restrictions -- Raiders are expected to have a deep understanding of their class mechanics and understand what genuine upgrades are.
There are limited situations, particularly when dealing with crafting, where resources are focused into individual players for quicker progression. Also, the final word on substantial guild-wide decisions always lies in the guild leader.
Community Teamwork
Eventide members are expected to give as much as they can to their fellow members and to the guild.
Members are expected to treat each other with total respect in dealing with each other. Aside from materials required to craft or gem an item, members should
never expect payment from other members for crafting services. Avoid putting yourself in financial debt to players both inside and outside the guild.
Whenever possible, members will contribute both resources and gold to the guild bank to allow for the advancement of the guild city which, in turn, will benefit our membership. Members must also be available within reasonable expectation to help with guild-related projects.
Raiding
Raiding is a
part of Eventide Guild, but it is an important part that our guild prides itself on. For Raiders, our standard is excellence, always. Being able to be quick and efficient, having a deep and intuitive understanding of your class, being prepared with consumables (if not provided by the guild bank), understanding strategies discussed on our guild forums, and being able to be a part of a raid without AFKs is critical to us.
In Eventide raids, the Raid Leader has the final say in raid strategy and other related decisions. The Raid Leader, along with the guild leadership, determine player invites, player exchanges and DKP bonuses. Players will not often be cycled out on content they are both familiar and capable with.
Eventide will take necessary steps to increase raid productivity if it provides a tangible and articulated benefit. Though we have no plans for it, strategies such as specifically gearing a tank or extending our raid time
will be used if they seriously benefit the raid.
While we enjoy our time, we do take raiding very seriously in terms of our goal for progression. If Raiders cannot regularly meet our standards, they are moved to Member status.
PVP
Eventide PVP policy stems directly from our zero-drama policy. By leaving a light footprint in the server community, our actions in PVP do not draw attention to the guild as a whole. This allows us to have a generally open PVP policy and allows our excellent PVPers the ability to pursue this as they wish.
While we do maintain an active Do Not Kill list, we do not maintain an official Kill On Sight list. If a guild or player is not on our Do Not Kill list, they are fair game.
Grey ganking and killing solo players as a group is strongly discouraged.
